Dear Kent from Oz......

I am so inspired by the many people who read my blog and watch my videos.

It is humbling and exciting all rolled into one.

Every day I receive emails and messages from around the world from people who are interested in what I do.

There have been so many amazing questions, comments and suggestions. It has provided me with so many ideas to video and write about.

I often cut and paste the best ones into a Word document to keep.

Sometimes I get some really 'different' comments from people who I am sure are well-meaning.

I thought I would share a few that either made me chuckle or made my day.

• I love the way you talk with your fingers!
• I know the left one is a wedding ring - but are you married to two woman?
• I'm glad to see the wart on your thumb has healed!
• I know your Australian but you sound smarter than that!
• You and Russell Crowe must be twins            (I like THAT one KfO)
• Great video Kent. Does being mentioned in a Kent from Oz video mean I am now famous?
• When can we see you FACE!?!? Is there something wrong with it?
• You accent and voice are like mellow chocolate!
• DON'T OPEN THE FILOFAX BY THE RINGS YOU AS%$#!!LE!!!!!!
• I thought I saw you at Office Max. I wasn't sure. Do you live in the US? They had the same Filofax as you. The same hands. They had the same rings. Then she turned and it was a woman.
• If you call that Franklin Covey a "Filofax" one more time, I'm unsubscribing!
• What happened to your wristwatch?
• Are you really from OZ? What's it like?
• Please talk more slowly, I can't understand you!
• How much gold did you use to make the words in the title sequence?
• Your arms are not hairy. How come? Do you shave them?
• I really liked your video, I really did. Then I watched it again and I changed my mind....

• I'd use your Spiraldex if it wasn't so curved.

Introducing the SPIRALDEX Visual Mapping Organizer System

This is an update to my earlier post

I have done some work on the spiral design and added some pages - some of the work is from the previous post.

And here's my video looking at the new spiraldex system and how I created my own organizer page for it. 

It is a trial only as I need more time to get my thoughts around this visual system

Here is the old design

A few weeks after designing the above I took some time to modify the original design a little. 

Here is the new design: 

I quite like this new spiral as it has the 15-minute increments. 

I removed the gray times in favour of small numbered dots. 

This is because at a glance, most of us can tell the hour position without 

needing the numerals.

It also is a bit neater.

I also toyed with a slightly different version with darker dots.

I have also named this figure the Spiraldex so that my design is not confused with the other.

I based the spiral on the Golden Ratio which helps creates a Fibonacci Spiral but found it had to be shortened a little to create more even segments from 1 pm onward. I also tried to maintain the circular shape which is more aligned to a clock face than the Fibonacci Spiral which increases exponentially.

This amazing proportion can be found in a variety of natural and artistic designs.

Its dimensions have a pleasing and attraction to our minds and its sense of proportion just seems right.

Hence there is a visual attraction to the spiraldex shape I have designed. 

It is easy on the eye and the mind embraces it with some sort of natural connection.

I have also played around with a Week-On-2-Pages format for my A5 Filofax. 

Here is the template so far...

And another version with slightly larger spirals on the left hand side. 

I am still undecided as to which appears best. What do you think?

Here are some examples I found on Google where others have utilized the original chronodex graph in their own planners

This one incorporates a two-month calendar and is a weekday or 5-day-on-2-pages design
It us most likely used as a work organizer.

Another work organizer with a date stamp used as well. I think it is a moleskin notebook.

This one diagram per page design is more like what I like to use. 
There is a lot of space for broad diagrams, sketches, writing an planning.

Another planner with three-days-per-page with an opposite page for notes and diagrams.
